Title: Exalting Jesus in Jeremiah & Lamentations: Christ-Centered Exposition Commentary (CCEC)
Publisher: Broadman & Holman
Author: Steven W. Smith

Description

Jeremiah marks a devastating time in the trajectory of a fulfilled promise. The nation was scattered in rebellion against this covenant-keeping God. It seemed that hope was lost and that the nation would not survive. Yet it would survive...not becaues of the hearts of the people; they were horribly turned away from God...What makes all of this work out in the end is that God kept his promise....found in Jeremiah 31:31, the promise of a new covenant...This promise is fulfilled in the person Jesus Christ. - Steven Smith in Exalting Jesus in Jeremiah & Lamentations

This title is a part of the Christ-Centered Exposition Commentary Series, edited by David Platt, Daniel L. Akin, and Tony Merida. All 48-volumes take a Christ-centered approach to expositing the books of the Bible. Instead of a verse-by-verse approach, the authors explain and apply key passages, teaching readers to see Christ in all aspects of Scripture.

Steven W. Smith is a fourth generation pastor. After being a pastor for many years, Dr. Smith most recently served as Vice President for Student Services and Professor of Preaching at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He also served on the preaching team at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, TX. Dr. Smith is passionate about preaching and teaching preaching in the classroom. He is the author of two books on preaching: Dying to Preach, and Recapturing the Voice of God, and the co-author of Preaching for the Rest of Us, as well as related academic articles and chapters in books.
