The late F. L. Cross was the Lady Margaret Professor of Divinity in the University of Oxford and Canon of Christ Church from 1944 to 1968. He was editor of the Patristic Greek Lexicon and initiated the International Conferences on Patristic Studies.
Dr E. A. Livingstone was involved in the first edition of The Oxford Dictionary of the Christian Church and assumed the editorship of the second on the death of F. L. Cross. She was responsible for the organization of the International Conferences on Patristic Studies from 1969 to 1995 and edited the proceedings. For services to patristic scholarship she was made an MBE.
