Philippians offers a treasure trove of “good news” to the church today, even as it spoke welcome words of comfort, encouragement, and exhortation to the first-century believers in Philippi.
In this special Olive Tree collection not only can you read the Philippians Story of God Bible Commentary volume, but you can also listen to author and world-class biblical scholar Lynn Cohick's lectures on Philippians 1-2 and Philippians 3-4 supplementing and augmenting the text.
A new commentary for today's world, The Story of God Bible Commentary explains and illuminates each passage of Scripture in light of the Bible’s grand story. The first commentary series to do so, SGBC offers a clear and compelling exposition of biblical texts, guiding everyday readers in how to creatively and faithfully live out the Bible in their own contexts. Its story-centric approach is ideal for pastors, students, Sunday school teachers, and laypeople alike.
The included audio lectures feature author and professor Lynn Cohick teaching through the book of Philippians in engaging and challenging lessons that tackle the historical distance between the New Testament and contemporary culture. Cohick offers a clear and compelling introduction to the entire book of Philippians, guiding readers in creatively and faithfully living out the book's message in today's context. Using a story-centric approach, these lessons are ideal for formal and informal students alike, and for anyone who wants to better understand Philippians today. These lectures view Scripture as God's Story, with the book itself examined in its canonical and historical setting, in order to foster discernment in living God's Story faithfully and creatively with and for the church in the 21st century.
