Настоящий перевод Нового Завета был начат в 1953 году, при поддержке Британского и Иностранного Библейского Общества, группой переводчиков, которой руководил известный русский библеист епископ Кассиан (Безобразов; 1892–1965), и впервые был полностью опубликован в 1970 г. Перевод основан на современном научном издании текста Нового Завета, в основе которого лежат древние греческие рукописи IV–V вв.

The present translation of the New Testament was begun in Paris, France, in 1953 by the group of translators under the leadership of a well-known Russian Bible scholar Bishop Cassian (Bezobrazov), with support of the British and Foreign Bible Society. For the first time it was completely published in 1970. The translation is based upon the modern scholarly edition of the New Testament text prepared on the basis of the IV–V centuries ancient Greek manuscripts.
