Growing up the son of a preacher--a traveling evangelist who was an upright man behind the pulpit and a violent husband at home--Stephen McWhirter wanted nothing to do with Christianity. This darkness led to eleven years of rebellion, addiction, and brokenness. He sought escape through anything the world could offer: drugs, alcohol, theft, pornography, entertainment.
