Amplified Bible Classic Edition (AMPC)
The Amplified Bible (AMP), Classic Edition is a faithful translation which provides clarifying meaning within the Biblical text to uphold the original texts of Scripture. This is accomplished by use of:
- Parentheses ( ) containing clarifying, synonymous words or phrases included in the original text
- Brackets [ ] containing clarifying words or comments not included in the original text
- Italics to denote familiar words or passages which lack adequate support as included in the original text
- Linked verses as a reference system for expanded meaning of the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts
As a result, words and phrases are received in English more closely aligned to the original hearers of God’s Word.
Features:
Amplification provides better understanding to modern, Western, English-speaking Christians of what the ancient audiences instinctively understood.

Footnotes provide clarifying background information on the text and translation history

Rooted in the foundational texts, translators worked from the 1901 American Standard Version supplemented by Kittel’s Biblia Hebraica for the Old Testament as well as Westcott & Hort’s and Nestle’s Greek texts for the New Testament; additionally, translators consulted other primary source texts to keep the AMP as close as possible to ancient readings.
